As per news sources, our government is working on an online service that will enable e-KYC via OTP. This simply means that rather than visiting the Telecom company office, users will be able to Verify or Submit their Aadhaar details using One Time Password Method.

Government is going to release an App for User verification purpose. Using this app, users can easily link Aadhaar Card with their respective Sim Card. The technology behind this app is quite common. In simple terms, we call it OTP i.e. One Time Password.

From December 2017 onwards, Mobile Phone users need not to visit the retailer stores to complete the verification process. From 1st December users will be able to complete this process at the ease of their homes. The verification will be done on the basis of One Time Password rather than Biometric Details.

So, it’s clear that the news is official and verified. It will interesting to find out whether the linking process will be done via app only or will UIDAI release any online service at their portal also.

Link Aadhaar with Sim Card using OTP via Mobile App

Once the official app is released, users will have to follow these steps –

  • Visit the Play Store/Apple Store
  • Download the UIDAI Aadhaar-Sim Card Linking App
  • Install the App
  • Once the App is installed, you need to open it up
  • Within the App users will see “Verification” or “e-KYC” on similar option
  • Tapping on this link will initiate the verification process
  • Users will be asked to give permissions like “Sending & Receiving SMS” etc.
  • After this an SMS will be automatically sent from your Phone Number and Soon an OTP will be received
  • App will automatically check and match the OTP with records
  • if everything goes well, you number will be successfully verified
